Ok, here it goes! Welcome to my blog! I’m so glad you’re joining me on this adventure, let’s do this!
I have decided to step out and start this blog in hopes it will reach, help and inspire someone out there to make better choices for themselves in order to then go out and kick ass at life. My primary goal is to help people… to help you! I want to share concrete ways you can begin getting yourself on a personal journey to becoming the best version of yourself. I want to inspire you to stop surviving and start living… living the way you’d really like to be living.
I’ve had people ask me, “What’s your secret?” or others who say, “I need to start doing what you’re doing.” And in that moment I never know just how much they really want to hear. I’ll share a few ideas with them, but I know I’m not even scratching the surface of my ‘secrets’ in those brief responses. What I want to do, is to metaphorically bend down, wrap my arms around my entire collection of secrets, hoist them up, and heave them all over to the person who asked and say, “There! Now you’ve got it all! Run with it my friend!”
I have hopes of my advice prompting some positive changes in their lives. But human communication isn’t that simple. I’ve learned that it’s more of a ‘water on a rock’ type process. The person must first (1) become tuned in to something they need to hear at the exact time they need to hear it….so awareness is the first necessity (a common theme in my so-called secrets.) Then (2) they need to actively choose to act on what they’ve just tuned in to. And lastly (3) they must actually implement it into their day-to-day routine.
I like to think of my secrets/journey like multiple sets of stairways leading up a mountain. Each step is a small choice or change in how you live your life. It’s the total effect of all of these ‘steps’ that leads you to a better you… to the place you’re meant to evolve to. ...more about that mountain analogy in this blog post, check it out!
Back to the choices. How do I decide which choices and improvements to grab hold of and run with? What is the litmus test through which all my choices must pass?
“Does it make me feel my best?”
Hear that again! Does it make me feel my best? Does it lead me to the me I want to be? I didn’t say, “Will this make me look better? Will this drop the number on the scale?” Looking better and seeing a smaller number on the scale are what I’d like to call secondary perks. I’m, in fact, only focused on, “Will it make me feel my best?”
The key, though, first, is to become AWARE of yourself and your body in order to know what affects your choices have on ✦how you feel ✦your mental clarity ✦how you function day to day ✦your moods ✦your energy ✦your motivation ✦your drive ✦your health ✦your ability to cope/be less reactive
And that, my dear friends, is why I’ve started this blog. I would love for everyone to become more aware ⟹ be selective ⟹ make intentional choices ⟹ feel their best ⟹ kick ass at what they’ve come to this life to accomplish!
Will you journey up the mountain with me? On a set of steps you’ll selectively and intentionally create for yourself?
“Nobody said it’d be easy. They just promised it would be worth it.”
I am a wife, mom to two and teacher. I have a lot of things I'd like to go after in this lifetime!
